Many types of kitchen sink faucets go by specific functions and sometimes, user preference.

Read on to learn more about what these types are and some innovative faucets that are now sold in the market.

Types of Kitchen Sink Faucets

Single-Hole Kitchen Faucet

If your countertop or sink has one hole drilled into it, then you need a single-hole faucet with one handle.

Single-hole faucets typically combine hot and cold water because the spout and handle go into the same passageway.

If your sink has 3 holes in it, some faucet models have a bottom plate called an escutcheon that will cover the holes.

Moreover, single-hole faucets are recommended for smaller sinks.

Two-Hole Kitchen Faucet

A two-hole kitchen sink contains a hole intended for a single-hole faucet while the second one is for an accessory, such as a sprayer or soap dispenser.

Three-Hole Kitchen Faucet

Three-hole kitchen sinks work with two-handle faucets.

The faucet is typically installed in the middle hole while the two handles are positioned in the outer holes.

Unlike the two-hole type, three-hole kitchen sink faucets may not allow space for accessories.

Four-Hole Kitchen Faucet

Four-hole kitchen sink faucets require 4 holes drilled in your countertop.

One hole is for the faucet, typically located in the middle. The other two holes are for the handles on each side of the faucet. The fourth hole is for additional features such as soap dispensers, air gaps, or sprayers.

Single-Handle Kitchen Faucets or Single-Lever Kitchen Faucets

Single-handle faucets usually have one lever or knob that allows you to adjust water flow and temperature levels.

A single-lever kitchen faucet comes with only a water inlet and a water outlet, which allows for either one of the cold water pipes or the hot water pipes to be connected.

Two-Handle Kitchen Faucet

Double-handle or two-handle kitchen faucets have separate knobs or levers for hot and cold water settings, which give you more personalized temperature control and flow rate.

Another advantage of having two-handle faucets at home is you can still use the other handle should the other one get damaged.

Touch Kitchen Faucet

Touch-activated faucets can be turned on by simply tapping the spout while a small handle on the side controls the temperature level.

Touch faucets are best for accessibility and water conservation.

Touchless Kitchen Faucet

Touchless kitchen faucets operate by a motion sensor. This type of faucet typically comes with a handle that controls water temperature.

There are types of touchless kitchen faucets that can be used through voice recognition, which are more costly than regular ones.

Kitchen Faucets With Sprayer

There are two common types of kitchen faucets with sprayers, namely:

Pull-down kitchen faucet

Pull-down faucets have spouts that have a head that can be pulled down into the sink. However, this type comes with a shorter, magnetized, or flexible type of hose to stay in place when not in use.

Pull-out kitchen faucet

Pull-out faucets have spouts that have a retractable spray head with a longer hose that you can pull out of the faucet body.
