Single Handle Bathroom Faucet

When you are replacing your faucets at home, it’s important to identify the brand or manufacturer of your product.

Some faucet manufacturers indicate the name or logo of their brand on the product itself.

However, others do not.

In this case, you’ll need to find the model number to get yourself a replacement for the product.

Today’s article will discuss how to remove a Delta single-handle bathroom faucet including steps on how to identify your product’s model number.

So, without further ado, let’s get this started!

What to Prepare Before Removing Delta Single Handle Bathroom Faucet

  • Pliers
  • An empty bucket
  • Adjustable wrench
  • A pair of vise grips or channel locks (optional)

How to Remove a Delta Single Handle Bathroom Faucet

This method will involve unscrewing your water supply and pipes under the sink.

Step 1: Turn off the main or faucet water supply, including hot and cold shutoff valves.

Step 2: Loosen the screw under the sink that mounts the faucet to the countertop. This will automatically loosen the plate, too.

Step 3: Twist the lock or clevis screw under the sink that connects to the drain, which also opens and closes it.

Step 4: Put an empty bucket under the P-trap pipe to prevent water from directly leaking on the floor.

Step 5: Twist the locks of the P-trap by hand. It may hold water, crud, and dirt once you open it.

If the lock is too tight, you can use a pair of vise grips or channel locks to open the P-trap

Step 6: Using a plier, loosen the shutoff valves for both hot and cold water supply. This valve is located between the hose to the sink and the main pipe.

Step 7: Loosen the locknut of the sink tailpiece to the drain.

Step 8: Loosen the clevis screw and strap including the spring clip.

Step 9: Loosen the nut connecting to the pivot rod using a plier or by hand.

Step 10: Carefully remove the drain pipe by twisting and pulling it.

Step 11: Take the plumber’s putty off.
